Hair system price in the UK: what you actually pay in 2026
A custom hair system in the UK costs between £470 and £1,400. The spread is not a sales tactic — it is base material, hair grade and whether the unit is cut to your scalp or pulled off a shelf.
The three price bands
£470–£800 buys a stock-size unit, machine-knotted, usually a thicker skin base with a blunt front. It works, it is just not invisible at the hairline.
£800–£1,100 is the custom band: your template, your density, a lace or hybrid front, standard human hair. This is where most of our orders land.
£1,100–£1,400 is Remy hair, silk or hybrid construction, grey-blend matching and a hand-tied invisible hairline.
What raises the price legitimately
Hair grade is the single biggest factor. Cuticle-aligned Remy hair costs multiples of processed hair and lasts proportionally longer.
Grey blending is priced per percentage because grey hair is sorted by hand.
Length over 12 inches, curl matching and multi-directional partings all add manufacturing hours.
The running cost nobody quotes you
Budget £50–£140 per re-bond, every three to eight weeks depending on your city's climate and your own lifestyle.
Adhesives, solvent and system-safe shampoo run roughly £25–£45 a month.
A front refill once or twice in the life of a unit costs £60–£180 and buys months of extra wear.
What the same system costs in London vs Manchester
The unit price does not move between our cities - a French lace crown system is quoted the same in London as in Manchester, because it comes from the same manufacturer at the same cost. What moves is the running cost, and it moves for different reasons in each city.
In London it's lifestyle, not weather, that drives re-bonding: long commuting hours and formal office air conditioning through summer push wear patterns toward a shorter interval. In Manchester it's genuinely the climate — persistent, low-grade humidity on far more days of the year than London gets, which pushes toward the same shorter interval by a different route.
Either way, the pattern holds across the UK: a client in a wetter or busier city budgets for more service visits a year than a client in a milder, quieter one on an otherwise identical system. Budget for the city you actually live in, not the number in the advertisement.
Before you commit: a checklist
Take this to any studio, including ours. If a supplier will not answer these plainly, that is the answer.
- 1Ask for the price of the unit and the twelve-month running cost as two separate numbers.
- 2Confirm whether the quote is for a stock size or your own scalp template - that is the single biggest price variable.
- 3Ask what grade of hair is being used, and whether grey blending is included or charged per percentage.
- 4Get the re-bond price in writing before you order, not at your first service appointment.
- 5Check what a front refill costs; it is the repair you will need first.
