Only with reservations. Sydney is the hardest climate we work in for this option.

Poly is the base we most often talk clients in a hot, humid city out of for full-time summer wear. A sealed polyurethane sheet has nowhere to vent sweat, so through the warmest months the perimeter lifts first and the adhesive breaks down from underneath. In a drier climate the same base routinely reaches the top of its lifespan range, which is why clients in dry-summer cities wear skin year-round far more often than clients in humid ones do. If you want the skin parting in a humid city, the honest plan is a thinner summer rotation unit plus a breathable second system.

Most people who come to us from Sydney looking for skin hair patch have already tried a ready-made piece that did not sit right. A thin polyurethane base, 0.03–0.08 mm, that sits directly on the scalp and reads as skin at the parting. The most invisible option and the easiest to clean.

Nothing is glued on the first visit — we template, order, then fit once the piece matches you.

Caring for a skin (poly) base in Sydney

So we default to a breathable base for anyone who trains, swims or spends weekends outdoors, and we build UV protection and more frequent toning into the aftercare schedule from the start rather than treating it as an unexpected extra.

Wipe the underside with a citrus-based remover after every removal - adhesive left on poly hardens and tears the base at the next removal.
Never peel a skin base off dry. Soak the perimeter, wait, and lift from the back.
Store it flat or on a block, not folded. Poly creases become splits.
Expect to re-tape the perimeter before the rest of the base is worn out; that is normal, not a defect.
